One of my songs TILL MY DYING DAY got to the finals of the UK Songwriting Contest.
In 2006
I got another song in the finals called ONE ATOM OF LOVE, I also got a Semi-Finalist position with WHATS A MAN SUPPOSED TO DO? -- Maybe that's where you got the link from?
I have never entered any other song contests - and I didn't enter all of the songs on this site.
I might well do so when I get my songs to a mastered level. Maybe somebody else might pick some of them up before then? -- My ambition for the last 8 years has been to write for a living (songs or stories, scripts etc). It's a toss up between doing LOADS of roughcuts (which take me a couple of hours) and post them up, or spending weeks mastering one track and working on every recorded moment of it.
Let me know what you think via email!
September 2006
I started this website!
I have also bitten the bullet and started to get instruction in the use of 'Wavelab' - this is a software package they use at the local Sound Studios where I work.
What it does is to allow you to edit (change) pretty much any aspect of the waveforms produced in the recording of music. When used properly, you can polish individual recorded tracks that make up a complete song to crystal clarity. Then you mix them together for the end product -- a radio broadcastable song.
This is known as MASTERING a track and it makes the world of difference to the finished article - You will hear the difference sooner or later if you keep coming back to check on me!

Finally finished cutting the songs down to around 30 seconds in length each - This should reduce the chances of being ripped off over the internet - Though all my songs are copyrighted and have been listened to by large numbers of people anyway.
If you hear them anywhere else let me know.... I dont want 8 years of work going down the drain...
Next I will have to re-record many of these songs with my new equipment and get them up to master standard. I will be working on a full CD with my friend John Macauley (who sings Dakota Woman as well as other demos on the site) as soon as time permits.
I am really looking forward to getting that done and dusted - I might even try and sell some! lol
Late October 2006
Started writing with John Hoeve from Amsterdam on FOR SO LONG - The guy has got a whole lot of soul and is takin' no prisoners. John is single minded and totally focussed on songwriting. He has done some comedy songs that are totally different from what we are writing together here!

Simon Rushby's demos now available for our co write's CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR and THE WOOD FOR THE TREES. They are at the top of the homepage. Great stuff!
Thanks for visiting!
